Please see the post Drama!Drama!Drama! for the beginning of this series.
This is the final post of the Elements Series.

Proverbs 11:30 –  The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.

I know there are “ancient” and “postmodern” arguments to the altar call, but it is a most effective method to allow those so moved to have a platform for make a commitment, and that commitment can be made in a pew or in the aisle, etc… because the commitment is in the heart after all, but an altar call is so common amongst the modern church that I have never grown up in one, nor visited on that the altar call was not used.

Regardless of that, the reason I have an altar call, is because I believe that when a play or cantata is done that it was inspired by GOD, for HIS purposes: two of which are to

  1. bring glory to HIS name and
  2. to lead someone to a saving knowledge and relationship in JESUS CHRIST.

If this drama was to glorify myself and my talents, to put on the world’s greatest technical play, or for some other reason, then I am in error. I have used Church Drama to witness the name of JESUS CHRIST to those who would not have heard it to begin with.

So I am of the vision to use every dramatic element to accomplish these ends:

So the altar call is required in the productions we do, (not by my pastor as if I were forced, but by me as leader of the drama team, because I have a heart to win souls to the kingdom of GOD). I ask the pastor to have an altar call at the end, it is an honor for the pastor in my eyes and also puts weight behind what we do when he validates our produciton by conducting an altar call.

So far souls have been saved with every drama we have done.

I am looking forward to a harvest, so please consider what I say and do what you do to glorify JESUS and witness to the unbeliever.
