Please see the post Drama!Drama!Drama! for the beginning of this series.
Great ideas are floating around in your spirit and have translated to your mind as do-able projects. So the question is how to pay for it.
This is a problem not just for small and large churches alike, but also for multi-million dollar blockbusters. How do you get what you are seeing your head to materialize as a prop, costume or piece of equipment that you need to see your vision of drama come true an dbe able to pay for it?
My first response is always prayer.
My second, is that, especially in the beginning, if you had all you needed readily available at your fingertips you would never know what you were capable of doing resourcefully.
GOD is the inspiration of every invention, of every song, etc….so HE can inspired you to accomplish the goal you have in mind. If GOD wants it done, it will get done. But are you willing to pay the price to be successful? HE is looking for a sincere and active faith, not a well-financed drama department. In fact, so of my greatest personal triumphs in this process has been when I humbled myself and asked GOD for help. You know what? Help us HE did!
You will find volunteers, new ideas and help in the time of need. GOD is faithful and the LORD will not forget you.
Look to recycle. Whatever you get accomplished for this year’s production, inventory and stow in a safe place that curious hands can get to. Re-use props and costumes you made initial investments with. Also, there are bake sales, car washes, etc….
Be as creative in this area as you have been writing the play.
Through experience you will learn what you can do and re-use. Always back up your digital data and secure your props.
What people will do for passion they will never do for money. Ignite the spiritual desires of a group of people through prayer and fasting and so find those with passion and commitment to help you, but ultimately GOD will walk you through this wild and untamed area of drama until it is a well worn path.
Maybe not so much practical advice but it is good spiritual advice.
GODspeed your production.
