I have outlined in a previous post why I think drama is important, but I would like to delve and discuss all of the elements that I have found which go into making a production a thing of art and ministry. In other words, these are the components that make drama significant.
Let us take a moment and speak on significant. I would rather be significant than famous, significant that rich or powerful. Significance is the essence of why we are put on the earth, that our life matters to someone, somewhere for the kingdom of GOD. Drama is one way in which I feel significance can be achieved since it such a wonderful medium to use in communicating a message. If done skillfully enough, it will be significant.
Here are some of the topics I will be going over in the following days concerning Drama:
- the Use of Excellence (ala Cirque du Soleil)
- the Use of Video (video links)
- the Use of Sound Effects (website link)
- The Use of Sound Effects – part 2 (website links)
- the Use of Comedy
- the Use of Dance (video link)
- The Use of Dance, Part II
- the Use of Song (video link)
- the Use of “Soundtrack” (website links)
- the Use of Art (video link)
- the Use of Acting (Mime) (video links)
- the 4-D Stage, or the Art of Misdirection
- the Use of Message
- the Use of Budget (or lack thereof)
- the Use of Props (website links)
- the Use of Costumes
- The Use of a Volunteer Cast & Crew
- Directing!
- Marketing and Promotion (website & video links)
- Under Authority – arranging a play date with your pastor.
- The Day is upon us!
- The Altar Call
These topics excite my spirit and are avenues, when submitted to the LORD, which can used to great effect in accomplishing GOD’s work.
